Clyde Savannah 4th Graders Tour Museum

6-22-2010 The Galen Historical society members Joan and Bill Thoms, Hugh and Joel Miner, Gale Luke and Sherryle Godkin gave tours of the Brick Church and Mill Museums today to 4th graders from Clyde-Savannah Elementary. Mrs. Anstee, Mrs. Yonda, Mr. Cottrell, and Mrs. Jarvis led the group of approx. 60 students from the elementary school to the museums and followed the tours with a bag lunch in the park bandstand. As with most picnics you never can tell about the weather, rain started falling just as the tours ended so a bus was called to take the students back to the school.

The Galen Historical Society is now open for the summer season. 5-7 Thursdays during farmers market and 1-3 Saturday and Sundays. Tours or individual viewing may be arranged by calling one of the numbers listed on the front of each building, by email galenhistoricals@aol.com or leaving a message at 315-923-7150. We are strictly volunteer and are happy to receive calls to open or doors for tours or genealogy research. Our summer display of photos and information related to the 175th anniversary of the Village of Clyde is featured. DVD's of programs and events are available for viewing during your visit. Check out our website http://www.galenhistoricalsociety.org for future and past events on the calendar and announcements pages.

Red Hat Ladies Tour Brick Church Museum

June 15, 2010 After a lunch at the Brick Oven the Galen Historical Society hosted a tour for the Red Hat Ladies of Newark. Sherryle Godkin and Ruth Gillette guided the ladies through the Brick Church Museum. The ladies enjoyed the tour so much they are considering a return trip to visit a Mill Museum tour.
